“When I cut and paste, suddenly it all comes together and the magic happens…”
Born and raised near Geneva, Switzerland, I came to collage during the Covid-pandemic. Collage focuses on the art of selecting materials, principally paper in my case, and cutting them into the desired shape before arranging them and gluing them on to a chosen surface, creating a visually-pleasing composition. Collage provided me with an outlet to process the conscious and the sub-conscious. Guided by my intuition, I started harvesting images and creating compositions that reflected my inner self. Women, and their empowerment, featured heavily in my earlier figurative pieces.
Today, I mainly create abstract pieces, inspired by the British artist Bridget Riley. I work with geometric forms, especially triangles. I use shapes, colours, patterns and texture to find lightness and freedom. I meticulously select colours and patterns, cutting out shapes and making each piece fit perfectly like the pieces of a puzzle. The result is crisp and playful.
